raiseRED

Overview

raiseRED is the biggest student-run organization on the University of Louisville’s campus. It is a yearlong fundraiser that culminates into an 18 hour dance marathon that raises over $500,000 annually for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer. My role with the organization was on the design staff team as the head video coordinator. I would direct, shoot, and edit videos for numerous events throughout the year. These videos would be posted on the raiseRED Instagram page, featured at Norton Children’s Hospital, and shown at various other UofL events. I was with this organization for 3 years in my time in college and it was one of the most rewarding and fun memories I will have post-grad.

Pre-Marathon Videos

The videos leading up to the marathon have 2 goals in mind: getting students to register for the event, and showing potential donors what organization does. The example shown here accomplishes both in a heartfelt tone using video that I had gathered from previous marathons and narrated by the orgs current president. The script for this video was written by myself along with others from the design team.

Recap Videos

During the 18 hour marathon, I would work non-stop throughout the night to film and edit a video that would be shown at the end of the marathon to the thousands of spectators that were present to see the reveal (total amount raised). This involved me constantly knowing where to be to capture good footage and finding times to edit the video as I went throughout the night. This example is from the 2024 marathon.
